The evening prior to your trip, you will meet your guide and fellow travelers in Heriot Bay, British Columbia to go over trip logistics. On the first day of your trip, you can meet at Quadra Island for a short outfitter shuttle or in Campbell River at Way West Coastal Ventures & Water Taxi, where your kayaking adventure begins. From Campbell River, you will take a water taxi to the remote wilderness base camp near Robson Bight Michael Bigg Ecological Reserve, your accommodations for the next 3 nights and launching point for all your adventures. Over the next several days, you will paddle the area’s many pocket beaches, explore the shoreline, hike pristine forests, visit a marine wildlife research outpost, and still have time to soak in the restorative hot tub at basecamp. On the final morning after a final morning paddle, you will take a water taxi back to Campbell River and on to Quadra Island.
Participants should be able to perform several hours of moderate exercise each day without becoming overly fatigued to ensure you get the most from this trip. Paddling time will vary depending on your destination and the group’s abilities and desires, but generally you will travel between 3-5 hours a day.
